Healthy Food Chart

Here is a healthy food chart to illustrate the proportions of different foods that we should eat for good health.

foods high in carbohydrates

foods high in protein

foods high in vitamins, minerals and fibre

foods high in fat and/or sugar

The healthy food chart to the right gives you an idea of the correct proportions of these four food groups. As you can see, the highest proportions of calories should come from carbohydrate-rich foods and fruits and vegetables.

Below you will find a healthy food chart with lists of the different foods in each of the four food groups. I was amazed by how many different fruits and vegetables there are, many more choices in that group than any of the others. Do you think the universe is trying to tell us something?! Eat more fruit and veg!!

My Top Healthy Food Tips

Eat lots of fruit and vegetables

Eat plenty of wholemeal carbohydrates

Eat only lean meat (white meat is better)

Keep high fat dairy to a minimum

Keep sugary treats for special treats

Dry fry and dry roast with spray oils

* Children need more fats in their diets for energy so they shouldn't follow a low fat diet.
